David Prien is an experienced engineering leader currently serving as the Director of Hardware Engineering at Ring since February 2024. Prior to this role, David held the position of General Manager for Xbox Hardware at Microsoft from August 2013 to February 2024, where responsibilities included leading a disruption team that launched a product generating $250 million in gross margin. Prior to Microsoft, David worked at Motorola as a Senior Engineering Program Manager from January 2007 to August 2013, notable for delivering the first "Assembled in USA" mobile phone. Earlier career experiences include various roles at Nokia starting in 1998, ranging from Program/Project Manager to Business Development Manager, overseeing product development, partnerships, and market strategies.
