Vlad Shmunis founded RingCentral with the idea of using the power of cloud technologies to reimagine business communications. The company vision is to deliver customer-first solutions that meet the needs of the rapidly changing business environment. RingCentral enables the modern workforce to communicate, collaborate, and connect from anywhere, on any device using any form of communication. The focus is to deliver flexible and cost-effective solutions that disrupt the business of legacy on-premises phone systems, while providing other important communications capabilities. With the delivery of RingCentral’s mobility-centric cloud communications solutions, RingCentral unifies voice, video, team messaging and collaboration, conferencing, online meetings, and integrated contact center. Today, RingCentral is the #1 cloud communications provider, used by more than 350,000 businesses worldwide.
RingCentral is recognized as the largest and fastest-growing global pure-cloud communications solutions provider. RingCentral is the top-ranked company in the 2019 IHS Markit North American UCaaS Leadership Scorecard for three years in a row, and recently ranked the highest for growth and innovation in Frost & Sullivan's 2019 UCaaS Radar Report. In addition, RingCentral has been named a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant Unified Communications as a Service Worldwide 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 and UCaaS Company of the Year by Frost & Sullivan in 2017.
Under Shmunis, RingCentral has evolved from a startup company, funded in 2006 with a $12 million series A round led by Sequoia and Khosla Ventures, to a publicly traded NYSE listed company with a market cap of more than $10 billion.
Shmunis is an over 30-year veteran of the software industry. Prior to launching RingCentral, he served as the founder and CEO of Ring Zero Systems, where he pioneered desktop software for business communications software. Ring Zero shipped more than 25 million copies of its software to PC manufacturers, leading to its acquisition by Motorola.
Shmunis holds a bachelor's and master's degree in computer science from San Francisco State University and is a named inventor on a variety of US patents. In 2014, he was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year™, Northern California Region.
