David Collopy

David Collopy is an accomplished professional in the mining industry, currently serving as the Head of Underground Centre of Excellence at Rio Tinto since January 2017. In addition to this role, David also holds positions as Chief Adviser for Major Hazard Assurance and Health and Safety Underground Projects within the same company. Previous experience includes work as a Leadership and Safety Consultant at Newcrest Mining, where David designed and implemented critical safety management systems. David's extensive background includes multiple leadership roles at Barrick Gold Corporation, where responsibilities spanned from General Manager of various mines to Director of Safety and Health. David holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mining Engineering from WASM Curtin University and an education background from Trinity College in Perth, covering subjects such as mathematics, physics, and chemistry.
