Michael Nelson

Michael Nelson has a robust background in geology with extensive experience in the mining and resources sector. Currently serving as Superintendent Geoscience at Rio Tinto since July 2018, Michael has previously held roles including Senior Geologist and Geologist within the same company. Prior to that, Michael was an Exploration Geologist at Regis Resources Ltd from January 2017 to July 2018 and worked as a Geologist at NSW Resources & Energy from February 2015 to January 2017. Michael's earlier experience includes positions as an Auditor QAQC at Wilmar Sugar Australia Limited and as a Mine Geologist at Wolfram Camp Mining Pty Limited. Michael holds a Master of Science in Geology/Earth Science and a Bachelor of Applied Science from James Cook University.
