Simon Hunt is an experienced technical manager specializing in metallurgical and process engineering within the mining and metals industry. Currently serving as the Technical Manager at Rio Tinto since July 2019, Simon leads a team of approximately 20 engineers at the Kennecott Utah Copper Smelter and Refinery. Prior roles include Technical Superintendent at First Quantum Minerals LTD, where Simon focused on engineering design and construction support for copper smelting operations, as well as a Senior Process Engineer at WorleyParsons, specializing in design engineering for smelters. Simon's career began as a Primary Smelting Metallurgist at Xstrata Copper, with a strong educational foundation from the University of Adelaide, where a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering was obtained.
