Simon Doherty

Simon Doherty is the Honorary Professor of Practice at Queen’s University Belfast and the 2024 World Veterinary Association World Vet of the Year. With a background in veterinary medicine, Simon has served as a veterinary surgeon and held various academic roles, including Senior Lecturer in Animal Health & Welfare. They have extensive experience in leadership positions, including as President of the British Veterinary Association and as a member of various advisory boards and councils. Currently, Simon continues to contribute to veterinary practices and animal welfare initiatives through several roles, including as a Non-Executive Director at the Moredun Foundation and a GlobalScot appointed by Scotland’s First Minister.
