Compiler Engineer at RISC Zero

Jacob Weightman has a diverse range of work experience. Jacob currently works as a Compiler Engineer at RISC Zero since October 2022. Prior to that, from June 2020 to June 2022, Jacob worked as an OpenMP Compiler Engineer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. In this role, they were involved in implementing new features and optimizing performance for the OpenMP 5.0 implementation in the Cray Compiler Environment (CCE), contributing to LLNL's Frontier system, an exascale supercomputer. Before joining Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Jacob worked as a Software Engineer at SmartThings, a Samsung IoT platform, from May 2019 to June 2020. In this role, they designed REST APIs, modeled data and requirements, and improved developer experiences. In 2018, Jacob was an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Louisville, where they studied glancing angle deposition (GLAD) for manufacturing small structures. Additionally, they worked as a Preceptor at Macalester College from January 2018 to May 2018, assisting with teaching and grading assignments for a Discrete Mathematics course. Jacob also gained experience as a Physics Research Assistant at Macalester College from May 2017 to August 2017, focusing on troubleshooting processes related to perovskite solar cells. Lastly, Jacob was a Co-Founder and CTO at EduPass from June 2015 to October 2016, overseeing the development and integration of an attendance system for schools.

Jacob Weightman attended Mounds View High School from 2012 to 2016. Jacob then pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Physics at Macalester College from 2016 to 2020.
