Kees Jongenburger

Security Innovator at Riscure

Kees Jongenburger has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of software development and engineering. Kees started their career in 2000 at Framfab, where they worked as a software engineer specializing in web content management using the MMBase system. At Finalist, they continued to work as a software engineer, focusing on Java development for the Vodafone Live portal. In 2002, they joined Publieke Omroep as a Java developer, where they contributed to improving the MMBase web content management system.

In 2004, Kees moved on to Quantiq, a startup focused on implementing cross-media concepts and location-based services. As a Java developer, they worked on increasing the efficiency and robustness of applications. Kees then joined ExMachina in 2005 as a senior Java developer, designing and implementing a cross-media multi-user gaming service called Mobiles United.

In 2007, Kees transitioned to working at TomTom, a leading navigation device company. Kees started as an embedded software engineer, specializing in Linux kernel development and writing drivers for ARM-based devices. Kees later became a senior embedded software engineer, responsible for redesigning TomTom's GNU/Linux based platform for personal navigation devices. Eventually, they took on the role of embedded software architect, leading the architecture of the Linux platform for TomTom's next-generation devices.

After their time at TomTom, Kees joined Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2012 as a systems programmer. Here, they focused on porting the Minix 3 operating system to the ARM platform, including the BeagleBone and BeagleBone Black. Additionally, they implemented general improvements to the Minix 3 platform.

In 2014, Kees became the software development lead at Fairphone, a company that focuses on creating sustainable and ethical smartphones. Kees played a key role in making the Fairphone more open-source friendly and improving its software. Kees managed a software team and oversaw the remote teams in Portugal and China.

Most recently, Kees joined Exset Labs Europe in 2016 as a senior research engineer. Kees has been working in the field of security innovation. In 2022, they will transition to a new role as a security innovator at Riscure.
