Forest administration and forest management are RMK’s largest areas of activity. RMK protects and guards state forests, plants and maintains new forests, organises forestry work and sells forest and timber.

RMK also has the duty to facilitate various recreational uses of forests. RMK establishes hiking trails, marks scenic recreational areas, and prepares camping sites and campfire places. RMK also builds forest huts for hikers and offers accommodation in holiday homes.
