Alkarim Devani

Alkarim Devani is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in community redevelopment and real estate. As the Co-founder and CEO of mddl since March 2024, Alkarim leads a citizen-led platform focused on enabling middle housing developments in Canadian neighborhoods. Alkarim also co-founded RNDSQR in January 2016, which emphasizes thoughtful place-making in urban design. Additionally, Alkarim serves as a Board Member for Calgary Housing Company, overseeing rental programs for thousands of households. Currently pursuing a Doctorate of Design at the University of Calgary, Alkarim previously held a role as a Sessional Instructor in architecture. Earlier professional experiences include co-founding Chroma Property Technologies and Beyond Homes, and serving as a Realtor at Remax House of Real Estate. Alkarim holds a degree in Business with a focus on Marketing from the University of Calgary.
