Chris Smith serves as the Chair of the Scottish Council at RNLI since June 2023 and is currently involved with business engagement, innovation, and STEM at City of Glasgow College since November 2021. Smith has extensive experience in the Royal Navy from October 2005 to August 2021, serving in various high-level positions including Aide-de-Camp to Her Majesty The Queen, Naval Regional Commander for Scotland and Northern Ireland, and Logistics Branch HR Director. As Naval Regional Commander, Smith managed naval activities in Scotland and Northern Ireland, influenced policy, and oversaw multi-national warship visits. Additionally, as Naval Advisor for the Scottish First World War Commemorative Panel from September 2013 to February 2019, Smith coordinated naval support for commemorative events. Smith's education includes a Master of Arts from King's College London and a Master's in Defence and International Relations from the Joint Services Command and Staff College.
