John Powell

International Lifesaving Manager (innovation)

John Powell is an experienced professional with a diverse background in lifesaving, emergency services, and education. Currently serving as the International Lifesaving Manager (Innovation) at the RNLI since September 2001, John leads international drowning prevention initiatives and collaborates with stakeholders to develop human-centered solutions. Previously, John held various roles within the RNLI, including International Programmes Manager and Lead Facilitator for Operational Leadership and Command, contributing significantly to training resources and national programs aimed at enhancing community safety. Additionally, John is an Operational Manager for the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and a Senior Lecturer in Design and Engineering at Bournemouth University.
