Peter Sparkes is a senior maritime leader and transformational board-level executive with a proven record in P&L management, strategic and crisis leadership, and directing multi-disciplinary teams. They are the Chief Executive Officer of the RNLI since 2024, and previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the UK Hydrographic Office from 2019 to 2024. Their Royal Navy career included commanding HMS Cumberland and HMS Protector, as well as leadership roles such as Commander Portsmouth Flotilla, Commander Resources and Plans at the Maritime Warfare School COLLINGWOOD, and Executive Officer and Second in Command of HMS Norfolk. They earned a BSc in Town Planning & Urban Design from Birmingham Polytechnic (1986–1989).
