Stephen Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Stephen has held various leadership roles in the media industry in New Zealand. Stephen started their career at TVNZ in 1990 and served as the Head of Content & Assistant CEO until 2006. Stephen then joined Vodafone New Zealand as the Head of Media and Entertainment for two years. Following that, they worked at Fairfax Digital as the Head of Digital from 2008 to 2010. Stephen then became the President/Chairman of Surf Lifesaving Northern Region for three years. From 2011 to 2014, they were the General Manager - Digital at Maori Television Service. Stephen also held the position of Head of Multi-Platform at Māori Television Service from 2014 to 2018. Since 2018, Stephen has been working at Radio New Zealand, first as the Head of Audience Strategy, and currently as the Head of Strategy.
Stephen Smith attended Harvard Business School in 2000 and completed the Advanced Management Program in the field of Business. Prior to that, they attended Northcote College from 1977 to 1982, but the specific degree and field of study are not specified.
