Roadways is a National Highways–experienced, self-delivering principal contractor and recycled road construction materials supplier, operating across the South East of England from Woodside Depot, Polegate Road, Hailsham, East Sussex (BN27 3PG) with direct access to the A22.
We help Tier 1 contractors, local authorities, developers and groundworks contractors win and deliver work with lower risk by reducing design, construction, cost, programme and sustainability risk — using existing UK highway standards more intelligently, without changing specifications, contracts or accountability.
Self-delivery is central to our model. Roadways delivers works and services with in-house teams, plant and controls, including highways and civil engineering, asphalt surfacing, road recycling, HBM / CBGM foundations, drainage, kerbing and ironworks, and traffic management, alongside certified materials supply.
On National Highways and local authority schemes, we self-deliver cold bitumen-emulsion fully recycled asphalt used as base and binder (AC20 / AC32 replacement), achieving around 40% embodied carbon reduction compared to hot or warm mix asphalt, while remaining fully compliant with the operative Specification for Highway Works.
Through HBM / CBGM, we remove unnecessary construction depth and reduce excavation, haulage and disposal. On the Southampton Road Recycling Programme, this delivered 3× structural value at lower cost, up to 70% lower CO₂, and a fully circular solution, including recycling tar-bound asphalt planings back into certified CBGM.
Roadways also accepts tar-bound asphalt, clean hardcore and hazardous soils (from licensed waste carriers only), converting these streams into tested, certified construction materials, turning compliance risk into controlled construction outcomes.
