Vesa S.

Vesa S. is an experienced Senior Machine Learning Engineer currently working at Roblox since March 2024, focusing on voice abuse modeling and evaluation of model performance. Prior to Roblox, Vesa contributed to automatic voice abuse detection at Speechly from February 2023 until its acquisition by Roblox in September 2023. Vesa has a rich background in speech recognition and machine learning, having held various leadership roles at Rovio Entertainment Corporation, including Lead Machine Learning Engineer and Lead Data Engineer, where responsibilities included building analytics for marketing campaigns. Earlier experiences encompass development management at Lingsoft, research at Rosetta Stone, and academic research positions in speech recognition at Helsinki University of Technology. Vesa holds a Ph.D. in machine learning, speech recognition, and language modeling, as well as a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Teknillinen korkeakoulu-Tekniska högskolan.
