Brett Smith has held a variety of roles in the legal and entertainment industries since 2003. In 2003, they began their career as an intern at Razor and Tie. Brett then worked as a music licensing consultant at AMI Entertainment in 2004, and as an associate at Selverne, Mandelbaum and Mintz, LLP in the same year. In 2006, they co-founded and produced Walkup Records. In 2007, they worked as a contract attorney at Viacom. From 2008 to 2012, they worked as the Director of Business and Legal Affairs at Interactive Media Universe. During this time, they developed and implemented strategies to monetize patent, trademark, and copyright assets. From 2012 to 2017, they worked as Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs at Robocast Inc., where they reported directly to the CEO and managed outside teams of legal and financial professionals. In 2017, they began their own consulting business, Brett Smith Consulting, where they provided strategic and operational advice to technology and media company clients. Since 2022, they have held the role of SVP Legal, Intellectual Property at Robocast Inc.
Brett Smith attended Binghamton University from 1995 to 1999, where they earned a B.A. in Music. Brett then attended Cardozo School of Law from 2002 to 2005, where they earned a J.D.
