Bert Mortier

Bert Mortier has a diverse work experience. They currently work as a Machine Learning Engineer at Robovision since September 2021. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher and Teaching Assistant at KU Leuven. As a Teaching Assistant, Bert was responsible for teaching software-simulation courses and delivering lectures on support vector machines for machine learning. They also guided bachelor and master theses. In their role as a Researcher PHD Student, they developed efficient simulation algorithms for kinetic equations, with a focus on neutrals in nuclear fusion. They reviewed and analyzed existing simulation techniques for neutrals in fusion reactors as part of their PhD. Bert also has experience as a Team Member at KU Leuven iGEM and as a Commission Chair at Model European Parliament Noord-Brabant/Vlaanderen.

Bert Mortier completed a Master's Degree in Mathematical Engineering from KU Leuven, graduating in 2015. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from KU Leuven, completing their studies in 2013.
