Barbara Eckert

Principal Scientist I

Barbara Eckert is a Principal Scientist I at Roche Molecular Systems since March 2014, with previous experience as an Investigator at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, and as a Postdoctoral Scholar at UC Berkeley, where biochemical studies focused on the architecture and function of the Tetrahymena telomerase holoenzyme. Barbara's research involved elucidating the telomerase holoenzyme RNP complex architecture, analyzing DNA substrate binding modes, and determining interactions with G-quadruplexes. Prior to this, experience included a role as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Bayreuth, Germany, and conducting research as a Graduate Student, focusing on the role of protein folding mechanisms in bacterial infection. Barbara holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Diploma in Biochemistry from the University of Bayreuth.
