Carmelo Vargas

Carmelo Vargas has a diverse work experience in software engineering and management roles. Carmelo is currently working as a Software Engineering Manager at Granicus LAC, leading a team of 15 developers in the development of core systems for the company's GovTech solution. Prior to this, Carmelo worked as an Enterprise Architect at FirstBank, where they were responsible for conducting enterprise and systems analysis, design, and implementation of technological strategies. Carmelo also managed obsolescence projects and had expertise in Java, Oracle, and Linux stacks. Before that, they served as an IT Senior Manager - Software Development at Universal Insurance Group, overseeing the design and development of web solutions, portals, mobile solutions, and IoT. Carmelo started their career as a Software Developer at Telecontacto, where they gained experience in various technologies and domains such as websites, software, databases, telephony campaigns, business intelligence, and more. Carmelo also worked as a Statistical Monitor at Departamento de Educacion de Puerto Rico, where they designed statistical reports for an Adult Education Federal program. Carmelo had a brief freelance experience as a Lead Software Developer. Overall, Carmelo has a strong background in software engineering, development management, and enterprise architecture.

Carmelo Vargas attended the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez from 2002 to 2006, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science during that time. Carmelo also pursued studies in Theoretical Physics at the same university and received a degree in that field as well. In 2009, Carmelo obtained an Advanced PHP Certification from ExpertRating Solutions.
