Sofia Moraes

Sofia Moraes, PhD, is a Communications Lead at Nucleate New York, focusing on content strategy and outreach within the biotech sector since July 2025. Currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Rockefeller University, research endeavors involve studying antibiotic resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis through advanced genomic techniques. Sofia has also served as an HHMI Gilliam Fellow, securing substantial funding and participating in scientific leadership initiatives. Academic training includes a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biophysics from the University of Minnesota, complemented by distinct research roles at institutions like the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, where foundational work on protein interactions and bacterial pathogenesis contributed to significant advancements in the field.
