Benjamin Spilker currently serves as an Integrated Operations Engineer II at Rocket Lab since November 2023. Prior to this role, Benjamin held various positions at ENPULSION from June 2020 to September 2023, including Team Lead for On-Orbit Operations and Test Engineer for Space Propulsion, focusing on the installation and testing of field-emission electric propulsion thrusters. Benjamin’s experience includes a brief tenure as an ITER Project Associate in April 2020, overseeing beryllium-related safety measures, and a freelance role as a Guest Author on Materials Science topics at Matmatch. Additionally, from September 2013 to December 2019, Benjamin worked at Forschungszentrum Jülich as a Materials Scientist and Doctoral Researcher, specializing in thermal load experiments and funding proposal development. Earlier experience includes an internship as an Image Processing Engineer at Airbus, where Benjamin contributed to software for medical applications in space. Benjamin's academic background includes a PhD in Physics/Mechanical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University and advanced degrees in Physics from Bielefeld University and Saint Mary's University.
