Jamie Timms is an accomplished structural engineer with extensive experience in the aerospace and marine industries. Currently serving as Principal Structural Engineer at Rocket Lab since April 2021, Jamie specializes in launch vehicle sizing, structural concept development, and high-performance composite structure design. In addition, Jamie holds the position of Head of Structural Engineering at Emirates Team New Zealand, contributing expertise as the chief structural engineer for the 36th and 37th America’s Cup campaigns. Previously, as a lead structural analyst at Rocket Lab USA from October 2013 to January 2018, Jamie was integral to the Electron small satellite launch vehicle project, overseeing structural design and analysis of primary vehicle components. Jamie earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Auckland, completing the degree in 2012.
