Matt Brown is a highly experienced professional in the fields of machine learning and aerospace engineering, currently serving as Principal Machine Learning Scientist at Rocket Lab since August 2025. Previously, Matt founded and led the Autonomous Mission Systems group at GEOST, where state-of-the-art machine-learning solutions for space domain awareness problems were developed. Prior to that, Matt held positions as Chief Scientist at Kitware Inc., focusing on significant programs for the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Earlier experience includes serving as a Senior Aerospace Engineer at Logos Technologies and a Mechanical Engineer at L3-Communications Division of Space and Navigation. Matt holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton University.
