Spacecraft Systems Engineer

Talbryn Porter is a skilled aerospace engineer with experience in various roles within the space industry. As Software Lead and Lead Test Engineer for the U of M MBuRST Balloon Tracking Team from January 2024 to April 2024, Talbryn developed a balloon tracking module utilizing Iridium satellite communication and designed printed circuit boards for GPS and SatComm modules. In a prior role as Chief Systems Engineer at U of M from September 2023 to September 2024, Talbryn collaborated with NASA JPL to define requirements for a Mars radio occultation cubesat constellation and structured an engineering team for efficient project management. Currently serving as a Spacecraft Systems Engineer at Rocket Lab since September 2024, Talbryn previously gained experience as an intern at Broadband HSI, Inc. Talbryn holds a Master of Engineering in Space Systems from the University of Michigan (2023-2024) and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan (2019-2023), along with education from Haywood Community College (2014-2018).
