Theodore Vaatstra is a Development Engineer I at Rocket Lab since January 2021, focusing on the design and development of thermal protection systems for the Neutron launch vehicle. Previously, Theodore held positions as a Junior Propulsion Development Engineer, contributing to the propulsion system of the Lunar Photon/CAPSTONE spacecraft, and as a Propulsion Development Intern, supporting the Electron launch vehicle propulsion systems. Theodore's earlier experience includes a Mechanical Design Internship at Compac, involvement with the AUT Racing team for the 2021 Formula SAE competition, building laborer work from 2016 to 2020, and welding and assembly tasks at Nga Rakau Nurseries. Theodore holds a Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Auckland University of Technology and completed a short course in Spacecraft Systems Engineering at The University of Auckland in September 2023.
