Roewe was established by SAIC Motor Corporation, one of the largest automotive manufacturer in China, to build a
strong, technology-driven national car brand. Roewe was developed using automotive engineering technology
acquired from the former UK brand Rover, which formed the foundation of its early vehicles. To further refine
powertrain performance, efficiency, and emissions standards, SAIC collaborated directly with Ricardo, a UK-based
global engineering consultancy specializing in engine development, powertrain optimization, and emissions
technologies.
