Frank Maker, PhD, is an experienced engineering professional with a strong focus on software engineering and machine learning. Currently serving as the Director of Software Engineering for Edge Machine Learning at Roku, Frank has been instrumental in developing innovative TV technologies and guiding internal innovation projects since February 2014. Previous roles at Roku include overseeing Voice, EdgeML, and Remote software, as well as leading audio feature development for television products. Frank founded Audiomatiq, a startup dedicated to enhancing workplace productivity through intelligent audio solutions, and also has experience directing engineering at MarineIO Inc. A graduate of the University of California, Davis with a PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Frank has a diverse background in software development, embedded systems, and teaching, complemented by internships at prominent companies such as Google and Broadcom.
