Jorgen Harmse

Jorgen Harmse is a seasoned professional in data science and machine learning with extensive experience across various sectors. Currently serving as a Senior Software Engineer in Machine Learning at Roku Inc. since March 2021, Jorgen is focused on developing algorithms for user merchandising and enhancing the usability of the Machine Learning Platform. Previously, Jorgen held the position of Distinguished Data Scientist at Sam's Club, where innovative approaches to item similarity and sales forecasting were developed. As a Principal Data Scientist at MaxPoint, Jorgen contributed to algorithms that significantly improved pricing strategies. Jorgen's early career includes positions at Civitas Learning, Zilliant, and BAE Systems, where expertise in data analysis, algorithm development, and applied mathematics were cultivated. Jorgen's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as a Master's and Bachelor's degree from The University of Auckland.
