Jun Yamato has significant legal experience, having worked in various roles throughout their career. Jun started their career as a Corporate & Finance Associate at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP in 1987, where they focused on preparing and negotiating financing agreements for corporate acquisitions and loan transactions. Jun also examined California's Proposition 65 environmental laws and advised on compliance methods. In 1989, they joined Graham & James (now known as Squire Patton Boggs LLP) as a Corporate Associate, representing public and private corporations on various legal matters. Jun then joined Roland Corporation U.S. in 1994, where they served as the Vice President & General Counsel. In this role, they managed all legal activities for the multinational Japanese corporation, overseeing legal matters related to the manufacturing and selling of musical instruments and software.

Jun Yamato attended the University of California, Berkeley from 1980 to 1984, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science & Asian Languages. They then went on to study at the New York University School of Law from 1984 to 1987, earning a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree.
