Rob Backhouse has extensive experience in the composites and aerospace industries, having served as Materials and Process Engineering Manager at McLaren Composites Ltd from November 2002 to January 2004 and as a Senior Composite Engineer at McLaren Automotive from January 2004 to July 2007. Additional roles include Associate Fellow - Organic Composites at Rolls-Royce, starting in May 2019, and previously Engineering Specialist and Global Process Owner for Organic Matrix Composites. Earlier in career, Rob worked as a Research Officer at BAe Systems Research Centre from September 1997 to November 1999 and gained foundational experience as an Undergraduate Apprentice at BAe Commercial Aircraft between 1989 and 1993.
