Sonja D. Williams

Technical Director of Environmental Services at Rone Engineering

Ms. Williams serves as Technical Director of Rone’s environmental division and assists with geotechnical reports. She has been with Rone for 26 years and serves as a reliable contact for Rone’s repeat customers. Ms. Williams maintains a “pro-development” philosophy and seeks to partner with clients and regulatory agencies to solve environmental problems. She is a recognized leader in developing cleanup strategies and negotiating favorable regulatory requirements. Her experience stems from over 30 years as an environmental consultant, managing a vast array of projects from Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) to Superfund sites.

Ms. Williams has unique experience as former Program Manager for Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) State Lead Contracts. These contracts put Ms. Williams in a leadership role for assessment and cleanup of abandoned, environmentally impaired properties throughout north Texas. In addition, her prior Phase I ESA reports have been reviewed and approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under their Brownfields Assessment Program. These rare experiences provide Ms. Williams with superior regulatory insight.

Ms. Williams has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Texas Christian University and a Master of Science degree in Hazardous Waste and Materials Management from Southern Methodist University. She is a licensed Professional Engineer and Professional Geologist in Texas. In addition, she is a licensed Corrective Action Specialist (CAS) and Leaking Petroleum Storage Tank (LPST) Project Manager with the TCEQ. Her education and experience makes her well suited for projects that involve Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), LPST, and Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP) matters.
