Bill is responsible for infrastructure reliability, resiliency and security across the extent of Roots’ cloud environment.  Directing a team of Infrastructure and DevOps Engineers while coordinating closely with developers on Cloud requirements to accelerate delivery, testing of new services and support for customers’ Digital Co-workers.  In addition, his team works closely with Customer Success and Continuous Improvement on all new and existing customer projects.


Prior to joining Roots Automation, Bill spent 20+ years in leadership roles along with directly contributing to infrastructure support, engineering, security and systems architecture. He has worked with Global Enterprises supporting existing deployments, corporate IT, and architecting/migrating product stacks to the cloud.  Along with organizations in the private sector including Carrier, Ricoh, and The New York Times, he previously worked in public sector positions supporting/delivering infrastructure, managing IT departments, and securing all aspects of digital environments and assets.

Chris brings nearly two decades of experience in Strategy, Innovation and Marketing leadership roles spanning Global Services and Technology organizations in Europe and the United States.

Simon previously worked as a deep learning researcher at [Boston University](/org/boston-university) from November 2019 to May 2021, where they designed and built an end-to-end machine learning system for clinicians looking to provide idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis patients with an accurate prognosis. Simon also used transfer learning to adapt U-net for de-noising CT scans of COVID patients’ lungs in order to enhance scan clarity and decrease patient x-ray exposure. In addition, Simon created image captioning models with novel encoder/decoder pairs and evaluated performance using BLEU. Simon also implemented transformers with multi-head attention from scratch to improve caption generation performance by 11% over traditional model. Austin Frahler is an account executive at [Roots Automation](/org/roots-automation).
