Rowallan Castle Estate is one of Scotland’s most extraordinary private destinations. A 13th-century castle estate set across 360 acres of Ayrshire countryside, yet just twenty minutes from Glasgow and within easy reach of Prestwick and Glasgow airports.

Two castles stand at its heart, each available for exclusive use. The Old Castle, with origins dating to 1263, sleeps eight across four double rooms, a self-catered retreat steeped in medieval history and once home to the Mure and Campbell families. The New Castle, completed in 1902 by the celebrated Scottish architect Sir Robert Lorimer, sleeps twenty-one across eleven bedrooms on a fully catered basis, with sweeping views across the estate towards Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran.

Between them lies a 19-hole championship course, designed by Colin Montgomerie and Ross McMurray of European Golf Design. Sculpted among ancient yew trees and trout streams, with both castles in view throughout, it is a round unlike any other in Scotland, and a fitting centrepiece for an estate built on heritage and quiet grandeur.

The Glasshouse Restaurant serves contemporary Scottish menus drawn from the finest Ayrshire and west coast produce, changing with the seasons. Private dining is available for groups and special occasions, from intimate celebrations to corporate gatherings.

Rowallan is also among Scotland’s most sought-after settings for weddings and private events, with multiple venues across the estate and a dedicated team led by Katy Campbell, ensuring every occasion is met with the care and discretion it deserves.

With over 3,600 years of continuous habitation and 13 industry awards, including Best Wedding Venue at the Confetti Awards and the Good Food Awards Blue Ribbon, Rowallan is a rare blend of history, hospitality and natural beauty. A place that rewards those who find it.
