Gordon Cooper has extensive work experience in the fintech, payments, and banking sectors. Gordon currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and founding member of RTGS.global, a next-generation Financial Market Infrastructure (FMI) that specializes in instant PvP settlement and real-time cross-border payments. Gordon joined RTGS.global in September 2019.
In addition to their role at RTGS.global, Gordon holds the position of Member of the Board of Directors at PayTic Connect, starting in May 2022. Gordon is also a Member of the Board of Directors at AIR, a company focused on digital delivery of mental fitness and resilience training, since January 2022.
Prior to these positions, Gordon worked at CFFI Ventures Inc. from March 2019 to September 2019. In this role, they contributed to the fintech, payments, and banking portfolio, including the establishment of ClearBank, the first new clearing bank approved by the Bank of England in 250 years. This experience eventually led to their involvement with RTGS.global.
Gordon also operated as Principal at Tamanscotia, Ltd. from June 2018 to September 2019. Before that, they were Chief Operating Officer at KINDUCT from May 2016 to May 2018 and previously served as an Advisor to the company from May 2018 to May 2019.
Earlier in their career, Gordon held various positions at Visa, starting their tenure at the company in 2001. Notably, they served as Group Country Manager, Regional Southeast Asia, overseeing operations in multiple countries from April 2014 to May 2015. Gordon also held roles such as Vice President - Emerging Markets Digital, Head of Emerging Market Solutions, and Head of Mobile Innovation - Asia Pacific, Central Europe, Middle East, Africa. At Visa, they played a key role in launching innovative services, such as mVISA and Movida, to meet the needs of unbanked consumers in emerging markets.
Prior to Visa, Gordon worked as Vice President - Business Development at SmartAxis BV from May 2000 to June 2001.
Gordon Cooper holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Political Science from the University of King's College. Gordon also obtained an MBA with a specialization in the Asia/Japan stream from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Additionally, they attended the International University of Japan, although the degree and field of study are unspecified. Prior to their post-secondary education, Gordon Cooper attended Trinity College School (TCS) from 1987 to 1990.
