Rugged Robotics
Nickolas Walling has had a varied work experience, beginning in 2015 with a role as a Student Researcher, Capstone Design Project, and Teaching Assistant - Chemistry at Rice University. In 2016, they were a Research Intern - Nakatani RIES Fellowship at Tokyo Institute of Technology. In 2018, they were a Summer Program Counselor for the Governor's Program for Gifted Children, and a Research Assistant at Kyoto University. In 2020, they were a Mechanical Engineer/Intern at Nauticus Robotics, Inc. and a Host at Restaurant Calla. Most recently, they have been a Fulbright Scholar at the US-UK Fulbright Commission since 2021, and is currently a Software Engineer at Rugged Robotics since 2022.
Nickolas Walling obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University between 2014 and 2018. Nickolas then went on to become a Research Student in Mechanical Engineering at Kyoto University from 2018 to 2019. In 2021, they were awarded a Fulbright US Student from The Fulbright Program. Nickolas is currently enrolled in a Master of Science - MS in Biorobotics at the University of Bristol, which they are expected to complete in 2022.
Rugged Robotics
Founded by a registered P.E. and a NASA engineer, Rugged Robotics is a Houston-based, construction technology company, aimed at improving labor productivity through the introduction of robotics and automation. Rugged builds hardware enabled solutions to real world problems and is developing a portfolio of robotic platforms for use on commercial construction sites. Each product they offer solves an existing pain-point, performs tangible work, and saves contractors time and money.
