Melisa Miller has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. In 2009, they worked as an Editorial Intern at Sasquatch Books, where they read manuscript submissions and created book indexes. Melisa then served as a Marketing Intern at The CRAVE Company in 2010, editing copy, generating social media content, and contacting business owners. Miller also worked as a Freelance Proofreader at Sasquatch Books, proofreading a 176-page book and ensuring consistency and page formatting.
Moving on to their roles in the video production industry, Miller was a Post Production Intern at Therapy Studios in 2013, where they carried out office duties, went on runs, and gained knowledge of post-production workflows. Melisa then worked as an Assistant Editor at Special Order Inc., managing media cards and improving post-production workflows at E3 events.
In 2014, Miller had a temporary Assistant Editor position at Renegade 83, Inc., where they synced and grouped multi-cam footage, exported video clips, and cut together casting videos. Melisa also had an Assistant Editor role with Intuitive Entertainment from 2015 to 2016, where they transferred and managed media for television shows.
From 2016 to 2017, Miller was self-employed as a Video Editor, producing and editing videos for non-profit organizations and marketing purposes. Melisa designed lower-thirds and graphics for promotional videos.
Miller then joined Marketwell as a Social Media Manager and Copyeditor from 2010 to 2015. Melisa created social media plans for clients, generated content, and edited website copy and press releases.
From 2017 to 2018, Miller worked as a Digital Media Specialist at Microsoft Production Studios. Melisa ingested media from various sources and provided support for Microsoft-related events by adapting workflows and focusing on the studio's role.
Finally, Miller is currently working at Run Studios as a Video Editor, specializing in Microsoft-related video content and working on fast-paced pickup edits, graphics, color correction, audio levels, and captioning.
Melisa Miller's education history includes a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Film Production from Chapman University, which they obtained from 2011 to 2014. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from Whittier College from 2004 to 2008, with a double major in English (Creative Writing) and Art (Printmaking). In 2009, they completed a Certificate in Publishing from the University of Denver. Additionally, Melisa holds additional certifications including Avid Media Composer 5 and Pro Tools 10, both obtained from Avid Technology.
