Nels Larsen has a long and varied work experience. Nels began their career in 1988 as a Naval Officer (Nuclear qualified/Submarine Warfare qualified) with the U.S. Navy, where they served as Division Head on the USS Ohio. In 2001, they joined Cheng Power Systems as a Lead Project Engineer, responsible for install plan development, proposal writing, purchasing, scheduling, cost control, material control, and start-up. From 2002 to 2005, they worked at Miller Brewing Company as Lead Engineer and Maintenance Manager. From 2005 to 2014, they were employed at Honeywell Aerospace, first as Senior Commodity Manager, Integrated Supply Chain, and then as Senior Program Manager, Defense & Space. From 2014 to 2019, they worked at Penske Truck Leasing as Head of Operational Excellence, Western Region, leading an "internal consultancy" and driving new processes and a culture of performance management enterprise-wide. Since 2019, they have been Head Of Operations and Executive Consultant at RunBuggy.
Nels Larsen has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arizona. Nels also has a Master of Science equivalent, Naval Nuclear Power Program Certification, from the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power Program and Old Dominion University. Additionally, they have attended the MIT Sloan School of Management for the Advanced Management Program. Nels also holds four certifications: Certified Project Management Associate (PMP) from George Washington University, Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) from ASQ Phoenix, Governance Fellow (in process) from NACD (National Association of Corporate Directors), and Six Sigma Black Belt Certification, LEAN, TRIZ trained from the GE Program.
