Rurio Inc. was founded in 2022 by Masayuki Kobayashi and Trishit Banerjee, who were students at Tohoku University at the time. As urbanisation continues to concentrate populations in Japan’s major cities, the option of living in rural areas is often overlooked. Our mission is to enhance the appeal of these regions and encourage more people to consider living in rural areas by making them a more attractive choice.

To increase the visibility of rural regions, gaining positive attention from society is essential. To achieve this, we focus on extraordinary yet underappreciated local cultures, businesses, and ideas. Through design, education, language services, and consultancy, we collaborate with local governments, companies, and communities to shine a spotlight on the true value of these regions.
