Joel Marcey

Joel Marcey is a seasoned technology professional with extensive experience in software engineering and open source advocacy. Currently serving as the Director of Technology at the Rust Foundation since February 2022, Marcey focuses on developing robust programs and systems to support the Rust Project and its community. Prior to this role, Marcey spent nearly nine years at Facebook as an Open Source Developer Advocate, concentrating on Rust and developer tools. Additional experiences include positions as a Technical Writing Contractor for HHVM and Microsoft, as well as owning Twin Roots, a consulting and software development company. Marcey holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University.
