David Hunter has a diverse range of work experience in various industries. David began their career as a Consultant at IT Vision in June 1998 and continued in that role until July 1999. David then moved on to the Western Australian Turf Club where they served as an Executive Officer from August 1999 to July 2004. During this time, they gained valuable experience in the racing and wagering industry. Following this, they joined Racing and Wagering Western Australia, where they held multiple roles over the years. From August 2004 to January 2017, they worked as a Manager Thoroughbred Racing, providing strategic direction and leadership in the development, integrity, and welfare of the racing industry. In February 2017, they transitioned to the role of Manager, Commercial Racing & Planning, where their responsibilities included ensuring the long-term commercial viability of the industry. Later, in December 2021, they were promoted to Head of Racing Operations, overseeing the operations of the racing department. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Racing Officer starting in July 2022 at Racing and Wagering Western Australia, where they continue to contribute their expertise and leadership to the racing industry in Western Australia.
David Hunter attended Collie Senior High School from 1987 to 1993 where they completed their Tertiary Entrance Examinations. From 1994 to 1998, they attended Curtin University and earned a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree with a specialization in Accounting and Business/Management.
