Phil Bunting

Phil Bunting is a Senior Materials Scientist at RxSight, Inc. since November 2023, previously serving as a Materials Scientist. Prior to this role, Phil worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Professor Jeff Rinehart's group at UC San Diego from February 2019 to December 2023. Phil earned a PhD in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, where the research focused on the synthesis and magnetic characterization of low-coordinate transition metal complexes. As a Graduate Student Instructor, Phil taught organic chemistry lab courses. Phil's research background also includes work as an Undergraduate Researcher at The Ohio State University, where involvement as a Beckman Scholar included air-free synthesis of charge-transfer complexes, and an internship at Ashland Specialty Chemical optimizing fiberglass resin formulations. Phil obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from The Ohio State University.
