John Standerfer has a long and varied work experience. John began their career in 1997 as a Software Developer Intern at Be Inc. John then moved to Microsoft in 1998 as a Software Developer. In 1999, they became a Software Development Manager at Trading Technologies Inc., where they supervised the design and development of the company's primary product. That same year, they were a Consultant at Ibiz Development Corporation where they provided technical expertise and advice to clients and oversaw the design and implementation of multiple e-commerce websites. In 2000, they became a Senior Developer at Open Lending, where they created a business plan and provided a technology presentation in successful fund raising of $1m+ in angel investments, and led the development of a web-based automated loan approval engine. In 2002, they became a Senior Developer at CyberTrader (Charles Schwab), where they led a team in the design and development of a mission critical suite of java applets. In 2005, they became CTO at S3 Matching Technologies, where they led product direction and managed technical development of S3's SaaS real-time analytics platform. John also conceived of and designed multiple industry first products, and grew annual recurring subscription revenue from <$100k to ~$3m. In 2014, they became a Mentor at the University of Texas at Austin - Longhorn Startup Lab.

John Standerfer attended Kingwood High School before enrolling at The University of Texas at Austin, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 1998.
