Rustan Nicander has a rich and varied work experience in the defense and security industry. Rustan started their career in 1996 as a Captain in the Swedish Armed Forces, where they held positions related to technical development and support for the Gripen Aircraft. Rustan also served as Deputy Chief of Air Force Flight System Management during this time. In 1998, they joined FMV as a Major and Manager at the Flight Materiel Command Staff.
In 1999, Nicander transitioned to Ericsson Microwave Systems, where they held various roles, including Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Western Europe. Their responsibilities included marketing and sales of defense products, particularly those related to the Gripen fighter aircraft.
Since 2007, Nicander has been associated with Saab, a leading defense and security company. Rustan has held several high-level positions, including Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Western and Southern Europe, Vice President and Head of Region Europe, Senior Vice President and Head of Strategy & Business Development for Europe and MENA, and Head of Market Strategy and Business Development for Europe. Their most recent role at Saab is the Vice President and Head of Market Strategy, Group Marketing and Sales.
Throughout their career, Nicander has demonstrated leadership and expertise in market strategy, business development, and sales within the defense industry.
Rustan Nicander completed a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology from 1989 to 1993. Rustan also pursued a Major in the Swedish Air Force at Försvarshögskolan - Swedish Defence University from 1997 to 1998. In addition, Rustan Nicander attended IHM Business School in 2001, focusing on Marketing/Marketing Management. Rustan also briefly attended IMD in 2005, although no degree or field of study is mentioned.
