Our mission is to increase knowledge of understudied regions of the global south through the advancement of scientific inquiry in these areas. We believe in the value of basic research – description, theory development, and empirical testing of hypotheses – for understanding society and that the best way to improve our collective understanding of understudied areas is to promote independent, rigorous research.  To that end, we:

1. Conduct scholarly research on topics within our areas of expertise.
2. Team with researchers who want to study “frontier regions” but lack the time, access, or expertise in primary data collection to do so.
3. Collect, curate, and disseminate high-quality research on the region.
