Summer Lopez is a seasoned transportation and urban planning professional with extensive experience in active transportation initiatives. Currently serving as a Senior Analyst for the Sacramento Area Council of Governments, Summer focuses on regional active transportation programs and trails implementation. Previous roles include Senior Active Transportation Planner at GHD, where Summer developed community-oriented active transportation plans, and Senior Transportation Planner at Caltrans, managing the Active Transportation Resource Center. With a strong background in community engagement and project management, Summer has contributed to various planning studies at the San Joaquin Council of Governments and held several positions in customer service and project support. Summer holds a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning and Studies from UC San Diego.
Sacramento Area Council of Governments
The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) is an association of local governments in the six-county Sacramento Region. Its members include the counties of El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba as well as 22 cities within these counties. SACOG provides transportation planning and funding for the region, and serves as a forum for the study and resolution of regional issues. In addition to preparing the region's long-range transportation plan, SACOG approves the distribution of affordable housing in the region and assists in planning for transit, bicycle networks, clean air and airport land uses.
