Long Phan

Research Engineer

Long Phan is a Research Engineer at the Center for AI Safety since March 2023, contributing to advancements in artificial intelligence. As an AI Researcher at VietAI since June 2021, Long has been involved in pioneering research projects. Previous experiences include serving as a Twitter AI Intern in summer 2022 and an NLP Volunteer at Hugging Face from October 2021 to May 2022. Long gained further experience as an AI Research Intern at Samsung Electronics and Samsung Research America in late 2021, and as a Deep Learning Research Special Volunteer at the National Cancer Institute, focusing on developing a transformer-based model for biomedical applications. Earlier roles include working as an NLP Software Engineer at Zalo, where Long developed a question translation system for Knowledge Graphs, and as an AI Software Engineering Intern at VNG Corporation, where Long led the creation of a Named Entity Recognition module for a Vietnamese conversational agent. Long holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence from Case Western Reserve University, graduating in 2022.
