SJ Stephens, MS, serves as a Domestic Violence Advocate at Safe Alliance, where strategic community partnerships have been established to enhance support for domestic violence victims, resulting in a 15% increase in community collaboration. As the founder of SJS.BusinessBuilding&More, SJ Stephens has developed and delivered over 40 grant writing classes, empowering more than 300 individuals and organizations to secure over $5 million in funding. Previous roles include Community Home Loan Lender at Park National Bank, Mortgage Loan Originator at Regions Bank, Operations Manager at Beyond Jobs (Mission STL), and Director/Program Lead at MERS/Goodwill, showcasing a strong background in lending compliance, relationship management, staff development, and financial oversight. SJ Stephens holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from Lindenwood University and additional education from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Academy and the University of Missouri-Saint Louis.

Safe Alliance

We provide hope and healing to those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. We provide a continuum of vital crisis services for survivors through our programs: the Greater Charlotte Hope Line, a free, confidential 24/7 hotline for Mecklenburg County residents; a 120-bed Domestic Violence Shelter; our Sexual Trauma Resource Center; and our Victim Assistance Court Program. We provide survivors with safety planning services; case management; counseling and support groups; court advocacy/accompaniment; and legal representation. In addition, we have a Lake Norman location that offers these services to survivors in North Mecklenburg County. 601 E. 5th St., Suite 400 Charlotte, NC 28202 HOURS Monday/Wednesday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday/Thursday, 9 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
