Safe Schools Mohawk Valley (SSMV) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping at-risk youth stay in school, graduate, and prepare for success in college or their chosen career. For over 20 years, we've been built on the belief that it takes a united community to help every child succeed.

Our Mission: Keep kids in school and give them the tools to succeed by reducing barriers to learning and supporting the social and emotional well-being of students across the Mohawk Valley.

Our Impact: Serving over 1,000 students and families annually through embedded, school-based programs tailored to individual needs. We meet students where they are—both physically and emotionally—whether they need guidance making positive choices, behavior plans to build coping skills, or intensive support due to juvenile justice involvement.

Evidence-Based Services:
🔄 Youth Diversion Programs (Check & Connect, Peer Mediation, IRT)
⚡ Crisis Intervention & Behavior Management
💪 Social-Emotional Skill Building
🤝 Mentoring and After-School Programming
🌟 Youth Leadership Development (Urban Leadership Institute)
📚 Professional Training for educators and youth-serving organizations

Signature Programs: Through collaborative initiatives like Bigs and Blue (police mentorship), Oneida County Arrest Diversion, The Underground Café Teen Center, and The Resiliency Project, we ensure comprehensive support when and where it's needed most. Our expertise helped local districts secure federal Safe Schools/Healthy Students funding to integrate community resources.

Partnership-Driven: Working in direct partnership with schools, families, and community organizations, we've become a cornerstone of school-based services under the leadership of Executive Director Anne Lansing.

Join Our Mission: Follow us to learn about our impact, explore collaboration opportunities, and help create safer, stronger, more supportive learning environments for every student.
