John Higgins

John Higgins is an accomplished Engineering Director and Product/Program Architect with extensive experience in managing the software development lifecycle. Currently, as the Director of Engineering at Benetech Labs, they lead initiatives focused on impactful technology for underserved populations, successfully developing products in areas such as human rights, STEM education, and poverty. John previously held roles at athenahealth, where they progressed from Product Innovation Associate to Manager, and contributed to bioengineering research at both Franklin W. Olin College and Oakland University. With a strong passion for software aimed at social impact, John excels in building teams and fostering strong relationships across diverse groups.
